We all want to pursue our dreams but are we really prepared to change our habits in order to make them a reality?

Habits are the decisions and actions we repeatedly do every day.

According to researchers at Duke University, habits account for about 40 percent of our behaviors on any given day. – James Clear 

That’s a hell of a lot!

Have a think about this for a moment…

What habits are you doing every day to get you closer to your goals?

Are you the cause or the effect of your habits?

When we switch off our autopilot we begin to realize some painful truths.

Where and what exactly are we spending our time. Is it social media, getting drunk, gossiping with friends or faffing on tedious housework.

You will notice half of our daily habits are pointless and we are wasting our valuable time on things that don’t even matter.

We have 86400 seconds in the day.

How much of your time is spent working towards your goals?

Success doesn’t happen overnight. There is a long road of early morning wake up calls, saying no to invite from friends and eating your frog – Doing shit you don’t like to do first.

All of these habits fall into one key area. Discipline.

To be disciplined means you need to build a system of daily habits working congruently with your desires.

Success isn’t something you are born with, it’s something that you learn. Yes, there are certain advantages some fortunate people have over other. But this is still no guarantee.

There have been countless studies and books on what makes successful people successful. And for good reasons.

What they have uncovered is, successful people hold similar traits and characteristics to one another.

What this really means, they have all learned habits to become successful. And so can you.

Applying these key principles every day to your life and will see an increase in productivity and in turn will move you closer to your financial independence.

If you’re a mama this is seriously important. And something I’ve personally struggled with for years.

Habits are much easier when your life isn’t full of distractions.

And your procrastinating self will do a really good job at trying to break your habits. Knowing that this is the case, it’s even more important to map out your daily habits and stick to them no matter what!

Easy said than done, I know…

Which is why in this article I’m going to let you in all the li exact same strategies successful entrepreneurs use so you can immediately apply them to your life.

What are the habits of successful people?

1. You Create Your Own Reality

Think and Grow Rich a book written by Napolean Hill is a masterpiece in self-help and personal development.

Said to be the result of more than twenty years of studying many individuals who had amassed personal fortunes.

Ask any entrepreneur if they have read this book and I will guarantee the answer is yes.

After extensive research, Hill discovered the idea of success, in any endeavor can be reached through mental visualization and imagination.

Hill argues what you most think about, you will become.

Hill’s work draws upon the natural laws of the universe and specifically the Law of Attraction.

Law of attraction uses the power of the mind to translate whatever is in our thoughts and materialize them into reality. In basic terms, all thoughts turn into things eventually.

Successful people consciously create their own reality

Money is a frequency. Tuning into that frequency and you will manifest abundance.

Too often we are held back by our own self-limited beliefs that we aren’t worthy or conditioning from our parents and our society that you have to work hard to get ahead.

All entrepreneurs know and frequently use the power of Law of Attraction to their advantage. Which is why most display a vision board,  they recite daily affirmation and frequently meditate.

Once you understand the Law of Attraction and the energy frequency of money you will transform your life.

Self-made millionaires understand how money works. If you have a feeling of scarcity around money you will attract empty pockets. If you have a feeling of abundance you will attract full pockets.

This is some of the most basic Laws of the Universe.

Brock Pierce founder of Bitcoin Foundation recently quoted, he would give away is 1 billion of his fortune knowing he will amass the same amount.

I’ll make more money,” he shrugs. “I’m not worried about it. – Forbes

Flipping mental!

Building your success and wealth begins with how you think and feel about money.

You create your own reality. So make sure it’s the reality you desire.

Habits

  1. Print out affirmation (in the present tense) that resonate with you.
  2. Read them twice a day. Morning and Night.
  3. When you read each affirmation try to hold the thought for 17 seconds.
  4. When you go for a walk or ride your bike make a playlist of positive affirmations.

2. Wake Up Early

Make a habit of getting up early.

This is the only time in your entire day, you can guarantee some free time for yourself to work on your business.

No children, no partner (?) no distractions.

I am not a morning person. In fact, I hate getting up early.

But since I’ve created a habit of early morning wake up calls, I have seen a major increase in productivity.

To my surprise, this stays with you, for the rest of your day no matter what pops up.

If you have children this is a complete no-brainer. Getting a few uninterpreted hours of work in each day without needing to rely on anyone is complete freedom.

When you wake up in the morning this is the best time to set your intention for the rest of your day. This is because when you sleep all resistance subsides.

So when you wake up you begin a new day with a new vibrational point of attraction.

Starting your day with good morning habits you will see a ripple effect of positivity and productivity throughout your entire day.

The early morning is one of the best times to create content. Your mind is free and you are able to think clearly without any distractions.

Like your phone going off, social media checks, email checks all the little bizzie sounds that quickly distract us from our deep work.

But here’s the real juice. You only have a finite resource of willpower available each day.

Which means there’s only so long you can avoid scrolling on Instagram, resisting the last piece of chocolate in the fridge or checking your sales stats (the last one I semi-condone )

Use your willpower wisely and you will find early mornings are one of the best times to nut out good creative content.

As humans, in order to be efficient, we want to do as many tasks as possible on a subconscious level.

All your habits of thinking and acting are stored in your subconscious mind. – Brain Tracey

If you set the alarm daily for 5 am overtime this will become a habit. Once it becomes a habit it stores into the subconscious mind and eventually, you won’t have to even think about it.

Habits

  1. To begin your day well starts with planning you’re day the night before – Write a to-do list each night of what needs to be done the next day.
  2. Wake up each morning at the same time. 5 am is a great start.
  3. Produce 1.5 hours worth of content.
  4. As you get your ready in the morning play an inspiration youtube video. Les Brown is a good start.
  5. Prepare a green smoothie full of goodness so you can take on your day.
  6. Put some affirmation on the back of your toilet door and read them each day.
  7. Begin your day feeling good!

3. Prolific Learners

Want to know one habit ultra-successful people have in common?

They believe that books are a gateway to learning and knowledge.

Dr. Demartini a human behavior specialist and entrepreneur is a prolific reader and has read over 18,000 books to date.

Successful people make a habit of reading everyday

Successful people never stop learning.

Entrepreneurs are constantly seeking inner growth to become the best version they can be.

Through courses, books, seminars or audio books they are hungry for self-improvement and to expand their consciousnesses.

Spending an hour a day reading will over time compound more and more knowledge and in 7 years you will become an expert in your chosen subject.

So why are books so important for your growth?

Everything we experienced in life has been done before us and has been written about.

So whether you want to be more successful or create healthier habits or learn more about our solar system all of these questions and many more have been asked by millions of other people before.

They to were on a quest to understand more about why we are here.

Sharing and passing on our information helps us to process our human experience and journey on this planet.

Surprisingly this quest for knowledge is only for a small percentage of the world population. Maybe this is why the world’s wealth is only held by a select few.

Most people don’t read.

These are some interesting statistics:

  • 25% of people have not read a book in the last year
  • 46% of adults score in the lowest two levels of literacy
  • Reading frequency declines after age eight

Be selective on what books you choose. Only read books about what and who you wish to become.

  1. Change your music playlist in your car to a business playlist.
  2. Buy a kindle on Amazon so you can easily assess thousands of great authors at the click of a button.
  3. Make a habit of reading half an hour every day.

4. Your Vibe Attracts Your Tribe

Successful people are extremely picky with who they choose to spend their time with.

Time is our most valuable resource and how you spend it, determines your destiny.

When you reach a higher state of consciousness through self-learning, mediation, and many other techniques you move through an accession process.

This ascension process is like a paradigm shift in your reality.

What you used to value or serve you no longer does. This includes friendships and sometimes family.

I watched a video on Lisa Nicolas once and she mentioned detaching from her old friendships groups and even her family for 10 years to pursue her dream of becoming a motivational speaker.

She valued her gift so much she was prepared to completely change her identity.

You cannot afford to be around people who judge you, who are negative, continually pitting you down and displaying toxic behavior.

Successful people have been aware of this for years.

You are the average of the five people you spend the most time with – Jim Rohn

So think of who you want to become the average of?

If certain friends and people no longer serve you then it’s ok to let them go.

You have to be fierce in the pursuit of your dreams, this is a completely natural part of the entrepreneur journey.

Being picky with who you spend your time is important for your mental and physical health too.

Have you spend some time with someone and after you felt complete drained?

or contrastingly what about a time when you felt buzzing from someone else company?

I’ve always been really sensitive to peoples energy. Sometimes this has served me well but most of the time it had a slightly more negative effect.

I’m extremely picky with who enters my personal space. I don’t have a long list of girlfriends to call up, I have a select few which I cherish and understand all my idiosyncrasy.

If you are flying solo on your entrepreneur journey I would highly recommend finding meetups or groups or networking events in your local area so you can begin to attract your tribe.

  1. X2 a week work outside of your home. Become more social.
  2. Look into co-working space in your area (or start one?)
  3. Find events or meetups in your local area.
  4. Sign up to LinkedIn!

5. Goals Obsessed

Setting goals means you want to be the cause and not the effect of your life.

Successful people know this all too well which is why they are so obsessed with goals.

Goals are your focus point. Where you channel all of your energy towards day in day out.

Goals give you purpose, and purpose brings meaning to your life.

Successful people make a habit of setting goals

I believe everybody should be working towards something. This doesn’t have to be money or success oriented, this could be breaking through your fear boundaries or giving back in some way.

Either way, we can all provide value to this world.

James Clear author of Atomic Habits points out that winners and losers have the same goals. So why does one succeed over another?

He goes onto explain why few people actually achieve their goals. Most people overlook building a system with habits in favor of writing goals down without any real tangible plan.

Part of a self-made millionaire system is a Life Coach.

A life coach helps to identify a clear path towards their client’s dreams. One this has been identified, you build a system and reverse engineer the system into small daily habits.

Laying the foundation of small habits each day begins to shift yourself into action and forward momentum.

Over time these small goals keep compounding. As they compound they are given more momentum and energy.

You can now begin to see why it’s important to break down your bigger goals into actionable and achievable smaller goals.

It’s of little wonderer why 80% of highly successful people obsessed with their goals.

  1. Write down your top 3 goals for the next year.
  2. Build your system
  3. Form your daily habits
  4. Hire a Life Coach (like me) and achieve your goals and more!

6. Daily Exercise

It’s no secret that moving our bodies helps us to be fitter and healthier.

Research shows 30 minutes a day of regular exercise has some incredibly powerful benefits to both our mind and body.

Working out helps to keep our minds free of clutter, reduces stress in the body and maximizes our performances.

These factors contribute greatly to our productivity and creativity.

I’ve never quite understood the concept of working out as a sperate activity. I’ve always made exercise a part of my day.

For example: If your children go to school then walk, run, or bike ride to pick them up.

When your days are full it can be pretty difficult to isolate 30 minutes of just working out.

To me working out needs be fun. Otherwise, it won’t become a habit and it will feel more like a chore.

I love surfing. I surf as much as I can throughout my week. I surf on my own and with friends, depending on the conditions and the mood I’m feeling.

Spending so much time working indoors on your computer it’s important to exercise outside.

Just being outside has a wonderful healing effect on our bodies and will you will instantly feel a sense of calmness and vitality.

Getting enough regular exercise is also a great way to get a good night sleeps.

7. Control Their Schedule

Time management is essential when running a successful business, especially when if you have children.

Your schedule dictates where and how you spend your time.

So it’s really important how you plan your schedule.

Planning your schedule means your in control of your time

A well thought out schedule can be the difference between finishing one blog post a week to finishing two a week.

Just imagine doubling your productivity and what this could do towards your future success.

Successful people choose carefully how they spend their time. You won’t find them scrolling on Instagram or watching entertaining videos on youtube, they know better than to waste their valuable time.

They will also say no to social engagements and restrict their email checks to only a few times per day.

Successful people no the power of the Universal Law of cause and effect all too well and for this reason they never let others control their schedule.

This law of cause and effect further states that:

  • Success in any field of endeavor is a direct result of specific causes and actions.
  • Success in any field of endeavor is an indirect result of specific causes and actions.

Take control of your time and your schedule and you will see some big changes to your productivity levels.

This will leave you feeling empowered and inspired.

Next time you’re invited to a party or networking event make sure you’re making the choice to go and not your friends or colleges making decisions for you.

Setting clear boundaries and saying no is all part of the journey especially when you value your time.

Amen to that.

  1. Every Sunday night map out your weekend ahead.
  2. On a calendar write each days schedule. Include all work and personal commitments for the week ahead.
  3. *Allow free time slots so you can have some fun.

8. Get Enough Sleep

As solopreneur we all know about sleep deprivation. And we all know how much it sucks!

Moving through your day as if you’re stuck in treacle, struggling to make decisions with your moods feeling like a pinball machine isn’t a pleasant feeling.

Everything feels as if your climbing a mountain.

Yes, we’ve all been there and for some reading this, you’re there now.

Without adequate sleep, we have more difficulty concentrating, learning, and communicating. Memory lapses increase.

Successful people are aware to maximize their performance each day they need on average 7- 8 hours sleep a day.

A whopping 89% of self-made millionaires sleep on average 8 hours or more per night. – Tom Corley

*If you are nursing young babies take this with a pinch of salt and get whatever sleep you can.

Sleeping allows your body the time to rest and recover.

Benefits of a good night sleep include:

  • Blood pressure lowers.
  • The heart rate stabilizes.
  • Your breathing slows down.
  • Relax other muscles in the body.

During this resting period, your body can recover from damage and protect itself against illness.

Forming a good sleep habit will encourage better memory functioning and creative thinking to help with your deep work.

Habits

  1. Go to bed at a similar time each day no later than 9 pm
  2. Wake every day at 5 am (Overtime slowly change to 4:45 am and 4:30 am)
  3. Read or meditate before bed.

9. Mediate

Mediating each day for 15 minutes will reduce stress levels and greatly improve your overall health.

Successful people make a habit of meditating each day so when they return to their task they are more productive and their concentration has improved.

There are days where you feel overwhelmed with certain tasks or when your schedule is jam-packed.

Rather than ‘stressing out’ take the time to spend 5 – 10 minutes of deep breathing. Ending the cycle of worry and stress early is important for yourself and your business.

All of us are guilty at times of spending a ridiculous amount of time on the one task when really it only needs a minimum of our attention.

Clearing the mind through mediation help to get the task done quickly and thoroughly.

Mediation is one of the best ways to improve your deep work capabilities. Over time this will result in more businesses and more $ in your account.

This is a must do habit to improve all areas of your life.

  1. 21 days of 5 minutes p/day
  2. 21 days of 10 minutes p/day
  3. 21 days of 15 minutes p/day
  4. Continue until your mediating 1 hour day

10. Visualization Techniques

I’m a big fan of visualization techniques.

I’ve used visualization techniques on a daily basis throughout all of my sporting career, my two births and now with my career.

To be successful you have to picture yourself as successful.

If you can’t then it won’t happen.

To achieve every goal, you need to visualize every detail of accomplishing that goal.

Make a habit of visualization to help affirm your success.

During my pregnancy with my second child Alba, twice a day I would picture myself birthing, repeating Louise Hay affirmations and rubbing my belly.

I would go into exact detail of how my labor would look and feel like.

I would finish with a little chat to Alba explaining to her how we were going to help each other through the birthing process.

I did this twice a day for 9 months.

I delivered Alba in 2 hours with a no meds or gas or anything. I was very present and I felt complete trust in the process.

This is the power of affirmations.

To be something, you have to feel it, think it and be it.

I am a big fan of the saying you need to “fake it before you make it“.

Every time you do this, you are reaffirming to your subconscious mind that you are it.

Using point No.1 you will begin to attract all the business, the money and the paradigm shift associated with all the new changes.

Create a vision board of your dream life. Stare at it every day. Talk to yourself about how you are going to get all your desired goals.

Never ever share your hope and dreams with anybody. Negative and toxic people love to bring you down.

Surround yourself with people who support your journey.

Habits

  1. Collect a bunch of magazines and print out clippings and photos from the internet and place them all on a vision board.
  2. Place the vision board in your office or your room.  Somewhere you can see it daily.
  3. Stand in front of the vision board each day and remind yourself what tasks you will perform to get you one step closer to your dream.
  4. Repeat as many times as you can.

11. Embrace Failure

Never, ever be afraid to fail.

Successful people understand that each time they fail they are one step closer to their success.

One of life greatest misconceptions is that failure is bad.

This has been pre-programmed into all of us since our school days. Where you either pass or fail. And if you fail you felt stupid.

What they failed to teach us (no pun intended) is that each time we failed was an opportunity for growth and self-improvement.

This would have helped me immensely when I received a D in Maths. Thanks, Mr.s Cawell.

I left school thinking I was shit at Maths. Paradoxically through my business and career, I’ve become good with numbers.

Through your business journey, you will inevitably fail. It’s all part of the greater picture. Trust me, I’ve failed a zillion times.

But with every poor business choice, it’s forced me to address my weaknesses.

When you’re burning your cash you need to think fast. Or fail fast.

But unfortunately for most of us, our pride gets in the way and we hold on to the sinking ship for way too long. With our ego depleted and our money nearly vanished we eventually give up.

If you are fearful of failure you will take much longer to get where you want to go on your entrepreneur journey.

The quicker you can confront all your fears and vulnerabilities you will accelerate your success and you will literally transform as a person.

12. Multiple Income Streams

Self-made millionaires don’t rely upon one one signal source of income.

In fact, they have on average three income streams.

Successful people make sure they have multiple income sources working for them

In the event of an economic downturn diversifying your income sources reduces your vulnerability.

Putting your eggs all in the one basket is going to leave with to much money on the table.

Spreading your eggs in multiple baskets helps to minimize your risks.

Here are a few ways entrepreneurs invest their money:

  • Real Estate
  • Cryptocurrency
  • Stocks and Shares
  • Gold and Silver
  • Offline businesses
  • Online businesses

Multiple income streams don’t always have to involve wealth creation. You can diversify in your job or skilled services. This helps to keep your options open.

When you have multiple income streams set up, you come from a place of abundance. Understanding the basic Law of Attraction and you will continue to receive more and more abundance.

As you begin to see a profit in your business you can then begin to look at ways of investing your money.
